Tony Sly's Solo Debut 12 Song Program will be out on Fat Wreck Chords on February 16th!
Known as pop-punk legends No Use For A Name's frontman, Tony finally
sets out with his soothing and captivating melodies, only guided by an
acoustic guitar and a smattering of various other classic instruments. “I
started writing songs a while back that didn’t really fit the mold of
NUFAN and I felt like I wanted to do something different other than
punk rock but the timing was never right,” Sly explains.
Earlier this year when his band had a four-month break following an
extensive world tour supporting their ninth full-length album
The Feel
Good Record Of The Year, Sly finally had the opportunity to focus on
creating
12 Song Program.
He immersed himself in these songs that are drawing on influences like
the Beatles, Bob Dylan and David Bowie, and began playing solo shows at
local bars to enthusiastic audiences.
“l just love writing songs,” he summarizes, “that’s what all of this is about.”.
Coinciding with the release date, Tony Sly will set out onto a
tour throughout Europe and the UK with Joey Cape, and Jon Snodgrass.

~Andrew Vladeck Influences Video Series~
To illustrate and pay homage to his musical influences,
Andrew Vladeck has started a
video & podcast series covering his favorite songs. Watch it
here (please post, and link away, and subcribe for updates!), and read why
AV picked Samson and Delilah by Reverend Gary Davis to start off the
Influences Series:
"I first heard the music of Reverend Gary Davis through my dad's
cousin, David Bromberg, who studied with him way back in the day. The
Reverend was born in South Carolina in 1896, but lived long enough to
be "re-discovered" during the folk revival in the 1960s. His singing
and playing continues to astonish me. In the past couple of years a lot
of his music had been re-released - and you can even find footage on
YouTube!"
